Sidney Lumet's take on the modern melodrama

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)

Another story of how a dumb decision starts a downhill that doesn't have an end. This movie brings very little to the genre, but still it's definitely worth seeing. The script has little to nothing new to offer, but the veteran director Sidney Lumet (age 84) squeezes a great deal out of it. The tempo is slow, at parts a bit too slow, but the mood is quite brilliant which keeps it from getting boring. Another part that drives this movie is the cast and their great performances. Far from a masterpiece, but still a good and entertaining movie.
