When North Korea takes over the world, or at least a small city in the USA

Red Dawn (2012)

The first thing I thought when I heard about this remake was why the hell would someone remake Red Dawn (1984)? It's a cold war era propaganda wrapped with a ridiculously idiotic story. As the cold war is over you are left with the ridiculously idiotic story and unfortunately this movie doesn't even try to bring anything new to the table. Actually it just simplifies it and switches the Soviets to North Koreans, that leaves not much to go with. So the story is that one day this small town somewhere in the USA gets invaded by North Korean troops and some local teenagers start to fight back. Calling themselves the Wolverines after their local football team they start a guerilla war against an army and of course kick ass. This movie is just beyond stupid, it's like the creators of this are thinking that no one in the audience has any brain activity. Maybe their target audience are the vegetative state patients at a coma ward. At points I was actually cheering for the North Koreans for putting some of those annoying kids out of their misery. It's badly acted, most of the characters are extremely annoying, it's horribly shot with a shaky camera, it's edited by a 12 year old with ADHD, it's directed by a stunt man and like I said the story is just ridiculous. Though at points it gets so bad it becomes funny, so I did find myself laughing a few times. But in the end it's a horrible movie with a few unintentionally funny moments.
