President bullying the citizens

Fair Game (2010)

This is apparently based on true events. Didn't know anything about this case before I saw the movie so won't go into how true it is. Don't really even care, many movies "based on a true story" are quite dramatized versions of the actual event in the benefit of the movie, so it doesn't matter. Anyway, this is a story about a CIA operative Valerie Plame who does some research work on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Her husband, ambassador Joe Wilson, is let in the case also and their investigations conclude that there are no WMD's in Iraq. When president Bush declares war against Iraq none the less, Wilson writes a criticizing article about the actions of the administration. The government doesn't of course like this and Valerie's identity is leaked to the public losing her job and basically getting the hate of the nation on her. The movie starts as a fast paced thriller, but slows down quite a bit towards the end. Unfortunately that's pretty much how my interest towards the movie went as well, at start it was great but got a bit tedious towards the end. The good cast saves a lot of the movie, Naomi Watts and Sean Penn both do a great job. Didn't really like the shaky camera at parts, felt a bit unnecessary. Otherwise it was a well made quite interesting little thriller about the freedom of speech.
