Girl Walks Into a Bar (2011)
Alright, first of all I have to say a few things about the premise before I go on to the movie. When I heard the idea of this movie that's released free on YouTube with some known actors, sure not the biggest stars but still familiar faces, I thought how are they going to cover the costs of it. I was expecting this to be an advertising movie with tons of product placement and straight out plugs towards sponsored products, but I'm surprised to say there were none that I spotted. Well unless you count in the bars, which were plenty, but then again not quite sure if it was the best kind of advertisement for them. Though the movie did make me want to go to a bar and grab a few beers, so I guess it was some big campaign by the alcohol companies to get people drinking more. Anyway, would like to know more on how this movie was financed as it surely was low budget but still I think someone spent money on it and if it's released for free, how are they getting it back? As we all know there is no such thing as good will when it comes to movies, so would like to know their angle on it. But as for the movie itself, it's ok. Tons of dialog and really not much happening in it, but the dialog is mostly quite good and the mood is fun enough to keep the entertainment up. It has some hilarious scenes, like the one with the nudist ping pong club, that made me laugh. Far from a masterpiece, but kept me entertained and didn't regret watching it, though not likely going to give it a second try either. As for releasing movies through YouTube, I think it has some potential. I mean I don't like watching movies from my computer, but still I've watched all these big releases they have done. Maybe I need to connect my computer to my telly for future. Anyway, I wouldn't mind more of these.

Actually I just read that there were commercials breaks in the movie. Somehow when I watched it I didn't get any. So I guess I have to take back some of my praise for it. Though at the moment you can't even watch it from Finland due to some copyright nonsense. No matter what, movies and commercial breaks have never worked before and will never work in the future either, so for that I can already say this system for releasing the movies will not get my support.
