A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Another horror movie franchise that gets recycled. And again, they should have just left it alone. Lets start with the main man Freddy, when this movie was still in production I was looking forward of seeing Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy as I thought he could be a good choice. Well unfortunately I was wrong. His deep nasal voice sounded like he had a bad case of a flu. The lines he was given were simply awefull and the great one liners the old Freddy used to shoot around were just too corny even for this character. The rest of the cast were not a bit better, actually even worse, mere posers. So not good thus far, what about the story then? Well, there was a nice new twist to it, but I think it wasn't used good enough to bring new life to the movie. And what really amazes me is the lack of imagination on the dream sequences. I mean the only reason I could think of to make a remake out of the original would be to update the dream sequences to a bit more modern standards and a fresh surreal vision. But no, it's the same crap as in the sequels. So this movie fails in every aspect it could have even tried to be on par or even better than the original. Waste of time and money.

I usually go through the rest of the movies in the franchise in cases like this, but as it's been more than 10 years since I last saw any of the sequels and not really in the mood to watch them again any time soon, I'll just review the original here. The sequels were very uneven from what I remember, 3 and 4 were somewhat ok, but the rest were just awful.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
A classic already and not without a reason. It was quite original when it came out and the horror is not the nowadays so typical cheap scares, but at points even quite good tension. Certainly not the best horror movie ever made, but it has it's well earned place near the top of the list. If there's actually someone out there who hasn't seen this yet, go watch it.
