Female James Bond?

Salt (2010)

A female action star is a rarity and a female action star in a good movie seems to be something short of impossible. That's unfortunate as I would love to see a brilliant action movie with a female star in it. I was kinda looking forward for this as it had all the ingredients for a great movie. It has a good director who has done some great action thrillers in the past. The story (judging by the trailer) seemed like a Tom Clancy movie, but with a female Jack Ryan. And who better to play the part than Angelina Jolie. So everything should have been ready for the ultimate female action movie. Unfortunately this one fails miserably too as have the ones before it. The story is kinda ok, guessed some of the twists a bit too soon, but not all of them. Could have been a lot better, but not the usual crap you see in female action movies. But where this movie fails miserably is the action. Holy crap the action scenes sucked. I mean is this woman supposed to be a superhero with super powers or a highly trained secret agent? The action is so over the top that I really felt embarrased for the makers of this nonsense. I mean there are at least 4 or 5 scenes where a normal human would have died from the stunts but this superhero just keeps on going. Come on, are they trying to impress the male action movie fans a bit too much or what's the deal with it. Sure there are some stupid stunts on most of the male action movies too, but usually it's only one or two at most per movie and the best ones usually don't even have them or they're just borderline. With the same story, same cast and a lot more realistic action this movie would have been great. Now it's just silly. And that's a shame.
