Son of Rambow (2007)
This movie reminded me of my own childhood and about the influence a single movie had to me. I really had tons of memories I thought forgotten coming back to me during and after the film. Don't think I've ever felt like that after a movie. So, I'm sorry if this review is a bit one sided as the movie affected me so much, but then again all reviews are one sided as they're made by one person. Anyways, it's basically a heart warming story of friendship, but there's so much more in it too. It's about religion, family ties, popularity among other children and all in all growing up. It's about a boy, Will, from a religious family who isn't allowed to watch any TV but who has a busy imagination and is drawing it all into his book. He meets another boy, Lee, who isn't the best influence for him according to his religion. Will ends up seeing a bootleg copy of First Blood at Lee's home and the movie changes his life completely. It's brilliantly made with the dream sequences being close to perfection. The cast is great and surprisingly believable. It's fun, touching and what's best it makes you feel good. I bet not everyone can get as much out of it as I did, but if you grew up in the 80's and were an action movie fan this is definitely for you. Just for the nostalgia trip I have to give it top points, but it's still a good movie without it too. Jumped straight to be one of my favorites.
