A reputation takes a lifetime to build and only seconds to destroy

Stardust (2007)

Ok, you can take your Golden Compass, stick it up the ass of Harry Potter and kick him all the way to Narnia. This is the best fantasy adventure movie since The Lord of the Rings. Simply magical. I have to tell you I wasn't too excited to see this, even thou a friend of mine recommended it with praise. Seen too many of those Golden Narnia Potters, so I was expecting a boring recycled movie at best. But I was willing to give it a try and see what kind of a ride will it take me on. And one hell of a ride it turned out to be. Sure the story was recycled, but in a way that took my breath away, mostly because of laughing so hard. It's brilliantly funny, witty, exciting, bautiful and especially entertaining. Made me feel like a little kid again. The cast is just stellar and hats off to Robert DeNiro pulling out a character that is just magnificent. Sure he has tried to do comic roles before and failing quite bad, but this time he hits the spot dead on. Also the conservative use of special effects was a nice touch, they're there to help the story, not to become it. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of cgi on this one too but it all has it's purpose as part of the story, which was a nice change after all of the usual effect spectacles. Only bad thing I have to say about this one is what the hell is that cheesy song during the end credits? Brought down the mood quite a bit unfortunately, but luckily if you watch it on DVD or BR you can stop it before that.
