Felon (2008)
This movie fails to bring anything new to the genre of prison movies, but still it was worth the watch. Right from the start I have to say Val Kilmer makes a stunning performance and that alone is worth seeing. Rest of the cast isn't that bad either. Also the story is quite good, even thou it falls apart a bit in the end. It raises some good points and really portrays how prison affects people. But the major flaw of this one, in addition to the bad plot twist in the end, is the fact it's not very realistic. And I'm not meaning that it doesn't portray the prison life as it is, because I have no idea what's it like. It doesn't portray it in a way I would believe in it, can't really put my finger on it, but there's something missing, it just feels false. Strong performances and a half of a good script make it worth watching, but it's far from a great movie.
