Elite Squad (2007)
Gripping action packed drama about the elite police forces and their fight against the drug gangs in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. As such this movie didn't sound too promising, but luckily it takes a lot wider approach to the whole situation. Corruption runs amok in the ranks of the police force and the citizens have lost their faith in the whole concept of police. This movie takes no sides and acts almost as an observer to the situation, it's based on actual events, though of course combining many separate individual events to a whole. That's the strongest point of this, there are no good or evil, no heroes or cowards, only the justice of one self. It's not a perfect movie, especially at start it's quite corny, but luckily towards the end it really kicks off. The style is documentary like which works great for the subject matter. Well worth watching.
