Buried (2010)
Missed this at the festivals this summer, but now I finally had the chance to see it. I have to say I'm quite impressed. A movie which completely happens in a wooden box buried in the desert with only one character on screen doesn't sound too promising. But this one manages to get a whole lot out of it being even quite intense at times. Hats off for the director for pulling this off, great work. So Ryan Reynolds plays a truck driver who gets kidnapped in Iraq and buried alive somewhere in the desert. He has a cell phone, a lighter and few other small gadgets which he desperately tries to use to his advantage to find out what's going on and how to get out. Reynolds does a solid job and watching him for the whole duration of the movie doesn't get annoying at all. The feeling is claustrophobic and the lighting is very dim, so the mood is spot on perfect. Couple of twists were a bit far fetched for my liking, but the story stays together quite nicely. All in all this was a very well crafted little thriller with a few minor problems.
