Due Date (2010)
Missed this at the Night Visions festival but got to see it yesterday. There has been a sort of a rise of R-rated comedies lately which have a take no prisoners attitude and nothing is "holy" for them, but still they all have a moral lesson in the end and tend not to go too much over board. This is just that. At start it's not that special taking very common routes of a "sane" man and an "insane" man put together in a car. But it goes quite a bit out of the common routes soon only to come back to it in the end. So the start and the end were quite boring, but in the middle there is some proper in your face comedy. Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis do a solid job as the unfitting pair and the cast is not the problem of this movie. The problem is that it's all quite pointless fast served entertainment with a bit of an edge to it at parts, but yet safe enough to not knock you out and not to make you leave your comfort zone. So in the end it's just an ok comedy with some hilarious parts but as a whole it's a bit too common.
