You better watch out for Santa

Christmas Evil (1980)

Well christmas is coming so I'll watch some different kind of christmas movies. This Troma classic tells a story about a man whose images of Santa Claus get a harsh kick as a child when he witnesses Santa having sex with his mother. He gets obsessed about Santa and starts to act as one himself. The movie is more like a look into this mans life who is slowly slipping into insanity. Even though it's a slasher and it's made in the wake of the slasher classics of late 70's, it's not a typical slasher as the killing doesn't start untill the end third of the movie. First 50 minutes we watch the man slowly losing his mind. Brandon Maggart does a pretty good job at portraying this deranged man and that's good as the beginning of the movie is quite boring so at least the lead is working. At parts it's so bad that it's actually funny, but at parts it actually manages to raise some thrilling emotions. The part with the mirror is quite brilliant and the ending is quite surprising to say the least. So at parts it worked great but as a whole it's a bit uneven to keep the interest up.
