A dear child has many names

Sean Durkin's debut direction is a surprisingly strong effort. It's a story about a young woman called Martha, who is haunted by her memories. Actually the less you know, the better, it's one of those movies that kind of unwrap as you go along. The movie is jumping between the past and the present while building the intensity from a family drama to quite a nightmarish thriller. Elizabeth Olsen gives out a great performance as Martha, the traumatized woman. Rest of the cast are really not as strong, I mean they're from good to decent mostly, but especially the sister, played by Sarah Paulson, was not exactly a great effort. Luckily the story keeps the interest up when the performances are not the best they could be. The cinematography is quite straight forward, nearing kind of TV-reality at times, but it actually supports the story quite well. The open ending will definitely leave you something to think about, whether that's a good thing or not is up to you, for me it worked quite well.
