Iron Man (2008)
I guess I shouldn't have watched this right after The Dark Knight as it set the standard so high. But as this was just released on Blu-Ray I had to see how good it looks on it. Great it looked indeed, but it wasn't a great movie. First the great things about this movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges both do a stellar performance that was a pleasure to watch. Rest of the cast didn't make that much of an impression, thou they weren't really given the chance either. Loved some of the humour in it and some of the witty one liners were surprisingly good. Then the bad things. The action. I would call it basic, it was ok at parts but mostly I thought that if they can't do stunning action, they should keep it to the actors as those were the strong force of this movie. One good thing I have to say about the action parts, the cheesy rock music supported those scenes surprisingly well. The worst part where this movie fell was the story. It was way too predictable to be interesting. Good actors and some good dialog save this from being a total flop. I think I'll watch it again some day when there's a few worse super hero movies in between, maybe it will work better then.
