I watch movies, am I a pervert then?

The Pervert's Guide to Cinema (2006)

First of all I usually don't like it when someone tells you how you should see the movies you see. I think everyone should see them the way they do and make their own mind of it what happens. This is a documentary, or a study to be more percice, which deals with the hidden language of cinema, uncovering what movies can tell us about ourselves. The title is a bit misleading in a way as it doesn't deal with the sleaze or sex in the movies that much and mostly focusing on the mainstream movies. It's made by a philosopher and psychoanalyst Slavoj Zizek, who's quite enthusiastic way of presenting his points is one of the strong sides of this film. The points he presents are anything from the most obvious ones to some which you can see in so many ways there's not a single answer. So some of them I fully agreed with, some I agree now after seeing this and some I really disagree. This was definitely an interesting study, even thou I didn't agree with it fully. It's made really well and even thou it's two and a half hours long, it doesn't get boring at any time. Also loved the way it was shot in similiar sets as the movies it was dealing with. As always in these kind of studies there's a big spoiler possibility, but luckily this one focused on the more popular movies which most people should have seen already. Movie freaks will get much more out of this as it's important you have seen the movies he's talking about. Was worth watching, even thou it didn't change the way I see movies.
