There will be blood if this movie isn't good

There Will Be Blood (2007)

Again I had high hopes going to see this one as Paul Thomas Anderson has done some amazing movies before, being at least decent at his worst. Thou it had been 8 years since his last masterpiece and his last movie, Punch-Drunk Love, didn't impress me much. So I was hoping for this to be a good movie. That's what it was and then some. I don't have a single bad word to say about this one, it just worked brilliantly on all aspects. And for once I agree completely with the Academy Awards, Daniel Day-Lewis does an amazing performance, one of the best I've seen in ages. And the rest of the cast aren't half bad either. The movie looks stunningly beautiful and the music, although maybe not the most usual movie score, fits the mood brilliantly. It might not be the easiest movie out there and the narration is slow. And as it focuses on just one man and the people around him, it's close to the area of getting boring quite fast. But not this one, most of the time I was just staring in awe with my mouth open and when it ended I was wondering did it really last 2 and a half hours? The very best thing this movie does is it plays with your mind, it makes you feel sympathy for a monster of a man and feel hate towards a religious man who wouldn't hurt a fly and then leaves you wondering what just happened. Why did I feel like that? It wasn't supposed to go like this... Brilliant!

And as usual lets take a look at the rest of the movies of Paul Thomas Anderson.

Punch-Drunk Love (2002)

I have to say I have some personal issues towards Adam Sandler, something about him just makes me sick. That aside, this was quite a beautiful little story that worked well enough to keep me entertained through the duration of it.

Magnolia (1999)

I get asked a lot to name the best movie ever made. And since that is impossible I thought of a movie that has pretty much everything that I love about movies in it and still works brilliantly as a whole. Magnolia is just that and that's why when ever I get asked to name a single best movie, I just say Magnolia.

Boogie Nights (1997)

Instant classic that works brilliantly no matter how many times you see it.

Hard Eight (1996)

This was surprisingly good. The scrip seemed quite small, but Anderson manages to squeeze a good story out of it. And the cast is just dynamite.

I haven't seen Cigarettes & Coffee or The Dirk Diggler Story so can't comment on them.
