Revolver (2005)
Again a movie from a great director that I didn't even know existed before I saw it in the infamous discount bin of my local super market. Well first of all it's aeons better than Swept Away, so definately you can call it a comeback, but still it's not up there with Snatch or LS&TSB. First thing you notice is how beautifully it's shot, the first scenes are just stunning. The themes at start put it right at the heart of his previous two masterpieces, but towards the end it goes quite a bit away from them. The cast was ok, nothing really special, but still quite solid. Nice to see Jason Statham with some hair thou. It's not the easiest movie to follow because of the weird editing and it has an ending that made me go "what the fuck?". It's far from David Lynch's movies, but still quite a new style from Ritchie. Also the use of animation was a nice touch, thou it did feel like a ripoff from Kill Bill. I didn't like the end "documentary" bits as they kinda underlined the theme a bit too much. I got the feeling that they were put there afterwards to try to explain what just happened. Never a good thing and it really makes you think that the movie makers didn't count on the movie to bring the right things out. So definitely it should have been left open for everyone to make up their own conclusions. So it's a good movie, not the easiest to follow and not as entertaining as his first two, but still a good comeback.

Previous works from Guy Ritchie.

Swept Away (2002)
The worst movie of 2002. That's what people say about this one. I don't fully agree with that. It's definitely not a good movie, but there's still something in it. The first 30 minutes are actually quite good, you get a feeling you're watching a Guy Ritchie movie without guns set on a boat. The rich snobs are just what you'd expect them to be and the conflicts are really funny. At this point I was wondering why all the bad reputation as it was actually really entertaining. But as the two shipwreck on the island things go wrong, really wrong. It wasn't even remotely funny, even thou at some points it clearly tried to be. The ending was a basic romantic drama, which isn't exactly Ritchies strongest point as we can see. And how the hell do they actually think people would have some emotions for the characters when the man is portrayed as a sadistic asshole and the woman as a stupid blonde who is really as dumb as a boot. So after a good start it was all downhill to infinity. It's a bad movie, that's for sure, but it's not the worst of the year.

Snatch (2000)
Oh well if there's actually someone who hasn't seen this one, go and see it now. Nothing to add to the praises this movie gets, it's simply brilliant. The cast is awesome with some amazing performances, like Brad Pitt for example. It's funny, brutal, exciting and most of all entertaining. And even though some people think it doesn't bring anything new to the table after Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, they can go back watching Citizen Kane again for the hundredth time. It doesn't matter at all, it's still an awesome movie and I don't care how many times the same thing is made as long as it's this good.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
One of the strongest first movies by any director. An instant classic that doesn't get old.
